Travis David’s six-hitting spree powers Bengaluru to dominant IPL win

Tim David's explosive 70 off 25 balls tears Chennai apart as Bengaluru race to the top of the IPL table.

IPL – (Web Desk) – Tim David was unstoppable on Sunday. He smashed eight sixes and scored 70 runs off just 25 balls. That innings helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru crush Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs in the IPL.

Bengaluru batted first at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. They posted 250 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. That is the highest total in this IPL season so far. Chennai tried their best but fell short at 207 runs in 19.4 overs. It was their third loss in three games.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was sharp with the ball. He took three wickets for Bengaluru. Jacob Duffy, Abhinandan Singh and Krunal Pandya grabbed two wickets each.

But the real story was David with the bat. One of his sixes off Jamie Overton actually flew over the roof of the stadium. Yes, over the roof.

David was humble after the game. He said the captain Rajat Patidar was batting brilliantly and he just supported him at first. Then things clicked and they put the opposition under serious pressure.

Virat Kohli got Bengaluru off to a flying start with 28 runs off 18 balls. Phil Salt added 46 and Devdutt Padikkal made 50. Then Patidar finished unbeaten on 48 while David went absolutely wild.

The two of them scored 99 runs together in just 36 balls. Bengaluru smashed 97 runs in the final five overs alone. It was brutal and brilliant cricket.

Bengaluru now sit at the top of the IPL table. They won their first ever IPL title last year after 18 attempts. This year they are starting like they mean business again.

Chennai lost three early wickets, including skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad for seven, to immediately fall behind in the chase.

Sarfaraz Khan’s 25-ball 50 and good knocks from Prashant Veer (43) and Overton (37) added some spark to an otherwise disappointing Chennai show.

“Great fight by Sarfaraz, Prashant Veer, Jamie Overton, even to some extent Shivam Dube,” said Gaikwad. “So I think, maybe I could have, contributed more top of the order. You never know, we could have chased it down.”

Multan Sultans Beat Quetta Gladiators By Six Wickets

In the first of the two matches on Sunday, pace bowler Mohammed Shami returned figures of 2-9 to help Lucknow Super Giants beat Hyderabad by five wickets for their first win of this edition.

Skipper Rishabh Pant hit an unbeaten 68 as Lucknow chased down 157 for victory with one ball to spare.
