South Africa Defeats England in Champions Trophy 11th Match

Karachi: South Africa defeated England by 7 wickets in the 11th match of the Champions Trophy.

The match, played at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, saw England winning the toss and opting to bat first. England set a target of 180 runs for South Africa, posting a total of 179 runs before being bowled out in the 39th over.

South Africa successfully chased down the target, with notable performances from Wiaan Mulder and Henrich Klaasen. Mulder scored 72 runs, while Klaasen contributed with 64 runs. England’s Jofra Archer took 2 wickets, and Adil Rashid claimed 1 wicket.

England’s innings started poorly, losing their first wicket at just 9 runs when Phil Salt was dismissed for 8 runs. At a score of 20, James Smith followed suit without scoring any runs. The third wicket fell at 24 runs, with Ben Duckett being dismissed for 24 runs, all three wickets falling to Marco Jansen.

England’s fourth wicket fell at a score of 99, with Harry Brook being dismissed for 19 runs. At 103, Joe Root was sent back for 37 runs. England’s sixth wicket fell at a total of 114 runs, and their tailenders failed to make significant contributions, ultimately ending their innings at 179 runs.

For South Africa, Jansen and Mulder each took three wickets, while Maharaj claimed two.

South Africa has now won one match and had another match washed out due to rain, while England suffered losses in both of their games.
