Sohail Afridi Warns of Federal Government Boycott Over Imran Khan 2026 Case Delays
Sohail Afridi Federal Government Boycott Threat Over Imran Khan 2026 — What It Means for Pakistan's Political Future
KP – (Web Desk) – Sohail Afridi federal government boycott Imran Khan 2026 is now making headlines. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi has issued a strong warning. He said KP may stop cooperating with the federal government. The reason? Continued delays in hearing Imran Khan’s court cases.
Afridi Speaks Out at Cabinet Meeting
Afridi made these remarks at a provincial cabinet meeting on Friday.
“If such trends persist, our government may consider a boycott,” he said.
He made it clear that PTI has always put national interest first. The party even attended federal meetings at great political cost. But he said that goodwill is running out.
Concerns Over Imran Khan’s Treatment
Afridi raised serious concerns about Imran Khan’s conditions in jail.
He said Imran and his wife are being denied access to their personal doctors. They are also being kept away from family members. Afridi called this a clear violation of their basic rights.
“Incidents involving the mistreatment of Imran Khan’s family members are deeply concerning,” he said.
He also condemned the use of excessive force against PTI workers. He called it political discrimination against his party.
CNG Supply Suspended in KP — Afridi Angry
The Chief Minister also took a strong stance on the CNG supply issue.
He said SNGPL has cut off CNG supply to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He called this move unlawful. Under Pakistani law, provinces that produce natural resources have the first right to use them.
Afridi directed authorities to take up the matter with SNGPL immediately. He warned of a “strong response” if the issue is not resolved soon.
KP Development Plan Opens for Public Input
On a positive note, Afridi announced that the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026–27 is almost ready.
Citizens will be able to share their feedback from May 4 to May 8. They can submit suggestions through the social media platforms of deputy commissioners.
People can share their views on roads, water supply, and healthcare. The government promises to include public input in the final plan.
Key Bills Approved by the Cabinet
The cabinet also approved several important bills during the meeting.
1. KP Fiscal Responsibility & Debt Management (Amendment) Bill, 2026 This bill brings new financial discipline to the province. Key points include:
- Debt servicing must stay under 5% of average provincial revenue
- It can go up to 7% only with special approval
- Total public debt must not cross 75% of average revenue
- Semi-autonomous bodies cannot take loans without government approval
2. Budget Strategy Paper (BSP) 2026–27 This paper outlines KP’s financial goals for next year. It focuses on increasing revenue, reducing borrowing, and supporting youth and the environment.
3. KP Prisons Rules Amendment Prisoners will now be allowed virtual visits with female family members and elderly or sick relatives. This change is seen as a humanitarian step.
4. Performance Framework for Government Officers High-performing officers can now earn up to four extra basic pays as incentives. Recognition letters will also be added to their service records.
There were reports that the KP Speaker would receive lifetime privileges after retirement. This included claims of a personal secretary, cook, and staff for life.
Special Assistant Shafi Jan dismissed these reports as false. He said no such clauses exist in the proposed bill. The confusion was based on a misreading of the legislation.
Afridi’s warning sends a clear message to Islamabad. PTI and KP are growing frustrated. If Imran Khan’s cases are not heard fairly and soon, the provincial government may take a bold step — a full boycott of the federal government.
The coming weeks will be critical for Pakistan’s political landscape.
