Skydive Kansas City Plane Crash Near Butler Airport Leaves 11 Skydivers and Pilot Dead

Skydivers – (Web Desk) – A Skydive Kansas City plane crash on Sunday morning killed all 12 people on board, including 11 skydivers and one pilot, near Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri.

The plane took off around 11:20 AM local time. Shortly after takeoff, it failed to gain altitude, made a sharp left turn, and went down in a field about 200 yards from the runway.

Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson called it a mass casualty event. He confirmed the aircraft was a local plane operating out of Butler Memorial Airport, not a commercial airliner.

The Federal Aviation Administration identified the aircraft as a Pacific Aerospace P750. Officials said air traffic control was not in contact with the plane at the time, as it was not required to be.

Skydive Kansas City confirmed the crash involved one of its operations. The company said in a statement that the entire team is in shock and expressed deep sympathy to the families of all those lost.

Some family members of the victims were present at the airport and witnessed the crash, the sheriff said. Authorities have not yet released the names of those who died.

The National Transportation Safety Board is now leading the investigation. Butler Memorial Airport and nearby roads remain closed as the investigation continues.
