Rising Petrol Prices and Their Impact on Citizens

Rising petrol prices in Karachi are making life harder for students, workers, and low income families every day.

I am writing to draw attention to the serious problems caused by the continuous increase in petrol prices in metropolitan cities like Karachi.

The rising fuel prices have greatly affected the daily lives of ordinary citizens, especially students, salaried individuals, and low income families.

Every increase in petrol prices creates a chain reaction that raises the cost of transportation, groceries, and other essential items.

One of the biggest issues caused by expensive petrol is the increase in transportation fares.

Public buses, rickshaws, taxis, and cab services immediately raise their charges after every fuel hike.

A route that previously cost Rs. 30 to Rs. 40 now often costs Rs. 70 to Rs. 100.

This situation has become extremely difficult for students and office workers who travel daily to educational institutes and workplaces.

Many students are struggling to manage their transport expenses, while some even arrive late or miss classes because they cannot afford the increasing fares regularly.

Moreover, the rise in petrol prices also affects the prices of groceries and household items.

Since transportation is involved in delivering goods across the country, shopkeepers increase the prices of vegetables, fruits, milk, flour, and other necessities.

As a result, middle class and lower income families are finding it difficult to manage their monthly budgets.

A person earning a salary of around Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 spends a major portion of income on fuel and transportation alone.

Another concerning issue is that some transporters and shopkeepers take unfair advantage of the situation by increasing prices excessively.

Instead of supporting one another during difficult economic conditions, some individuals focus only on personal profit, which further increases the burden on common citizens.

I would like to request the concerned authorities to take practical measures to control fuel prices and provide relief to the public.

The government should strictly monitor transportation fares and market prices to prevent unfair overcharging.

Student transport concessions, better public transportation facilities, and effective economic policies are also necessary to reduce the suffering of ordinary people.

I hope this issue will receive the attention it deserves.
