Petrol Price Rs299 Per Litre Pakistan: Govt Slashes Petrol by Rs74, Diesel by Rs67
New petrol price Rs299 per litre Pakistan brings cheaper fuel for everyone
There’s good news for every driver in the country today. The petrol price Rs299 per litre Pakistan rate has now come into effect, after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a major cut in fuel prices on Friday.
The price of petrol has gone down by Rs74 a litre, falling from Rs373 to Rs299. Diesel has also become cheaper, dropping by Rs67 a litre, from Rs378 down to Rs311.
The Prime Minister said this relief comes from two things working together: lower oil prices around the world, and calmer conditions in the region after Pakistan helped bring about peace talks.
He said the government had promised to lower fuel prices once it had the room to do so, and that promise has now been kept. He also thanked the public for staying patient during a tough stretch of high prices.
To make this cut possible, the federal government used Rs129 billion from its development budget. It also trimmed its own spending to free up extra funds for the people.

Even during the price crisis, Pakistan managed to avoid the fuel shortages seen in some other countries. There were no long lines at petrol pumps and no break in fuel supply anywhere in the country.
The Prime Minister also pointed to recent peace efforts in the Middle East, made possible through Pakistan’s role as a mediator. He called the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding a major milestone and praised Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his part in reaching the deal.
He further thanked Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and the wider economic team — including Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, and Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik — for their work through the crisis.
