Quetta Gladiators Spinner Usman Tariq Reported for Suspected Bowling Action

Tariq's Bowling Action to be Tested for ICC Compliance

ISLAMABAD: Quetta Gladiators’ spinner Usman Tariq has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action during a recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against Lahore Qalandars.

Umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown raised concerns about Tariq’s bowling technique during the match, leading them to submit an official report to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Despite the report, the PCB has clarified that Tariq remains eligible to bowl in upcoming matches. However, the board warned that if his bowling action is reported again, he would be suspended from bowling until he undergoes testing and receives clearance from the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Biomechanics Laboratory.

This procedure follows standard cricket protocols for players reported with suspected illegal bowling actions. The PCB’s approach ensures that players can address technical issues while maintaining their participation in matches, as long as no further reports are filed.

Under ICC regulations, bowlers are required to adhere to biomechanical standards, with a 15-degree tolerance for arm straightening during delivery. Tariq’s action will be tested against these standards if further concerns are raised.
