Mbappe Makes World Cup History with Second Golden Boot

Paris: (Sports Desk) – France captain Kylian Mbappe has etched his name deeper into football history by becoming the first player to win the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot twice.

The 27-year-old striker finished as the tournament’s leading scorer with 10 goals, comfortably ahead of Argentina’s Lionel Messi, who ended the competition with eight. England’s Jude Bellingham and Norway’s Erling Haaland shared third place with seven goals each.

Mbappe previously claimed the Golden Boot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with eight goals. Although France missed out on another final appearance this time, the Real Madrid forward ended the tournament on a high by scoring twice in the third-place playoff, helping his side deliver an impressive performance.

His latest achievements have also made him the highest scorer in FIFA World Cup history, with 22 goals in just three World Cup editions, surpassing Messi’s tally of 21.

Despite the individual milestone, Mbappe admitted he would have preferred team success over personal accolades.

“When you score that many goals in the World Cup, it’s special, but I would rather have reached the final than win the Golden Boot,” he said after the match.

France head coach Didier Deschamps praised his captain, calling him “an extraordinary player and an outstanding leader.”

Meanwhile, Spain dominated the tournament’s individual awards after lifting the World Cup trophy. Midfielder Rodri was named the tournament’s best player, goalkeeper Unai Simon received the Golden Glove, and young defender Pau Cubarsi was honored as the FIFA Young Player of the Tournament.

Mbappe’s remarkable consistency across three World Cups has further strengthened his reputation as one of the greatest players of his generation.
