Punjab University Wins HEC All-Pakistan Archery Championship

Key Officials Attend Closing Ceremony of HEC Archery Championship

Karachi (Sports Reporter) – Punjab University emerged victorious at the HEC All-Pakistan Inter-Varsity Archery Championship, securing first place in the prestigious tournament. The host university, IBA Karachi, finished in second place, while Lahore University claimed third. The championship saw archers from nine universities across the country competing in the final rounds.

The opening ceremony of the event was inaugurated by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), who commended IBA Karachi for hosting the championship. Dr. Ahmed emphasized the importance of sports in universities and encouraged educational institutions to actively promote athletic participation among students.

The closing ceremony was attended by Javed Ali Memon, Director Sports HEC, who was the chief guest and distributed cash prizes, medals, and trophies to the winners. Punjab University’s archers won gold medals, IBA Karachi secured silver, and Lahore University received the bronze.

Dr. Asad Ilyas, Registrar of IBA, Nazir Ahmed, HEC Regional Head, Syed Ijaz Ali, Secretary General of the Sindh Archery Association, Jamshed Isa, IBA Sports Manager, and sports heads from other universities also attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Javed Ali Memon praised the outstanding sportsmanship displayed by all participants and reaffirmed HEC’s commitment to promoting sports in universities nationwide. He highlighted the goal of performing well in the upcoming National Games and underscored that the championship is part of HEC’s broader mission to foster healthy competition and national unity.

The championship aimed to popularize archery among university students, promote healthy competition, and build a sense of camaraderie. It is an annual event organized by HEC, with different universities hosting the final rounds each year. The participating universities included Punjab University, University of Central Punjab, University of Management and Technology Lahore, University of Lahore, Superior University Lahore, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, Iqra University Karachi, and the host university, IBA Karachi.
