Punjab Orders Door-to-Door Survey for Special Needs Children
Special Education Department Orders Five-Day Survey Across Punjab
LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – The Punjab Special Education Department has launched a door-to-door survey aimed at identifying children with special needs and increasing their enrolment in special education institutions across the province.
Under the initiative, heads of special education institutions will gather information about children with special needs living in their respective areas and help determine those who may be eligible for admission.
Teachers to participate in survey
Teachers and non-teaching staff from special education institutions will participate in the door-to-door exercise.
According to the department’s instructions, school transport may also be used to help teams reach different localities and identify children who could benefit from specialised educational services.
Officials have been directed to complete the survey within five days, making the exercise a time-bound effort to expand the department’s outreach.
Geo-tagged information to be collected
As part of the survey, teams will collect relevant information about identified children along with geo-tagged photographs.
The data is expected to help authorities develop a more comprehensive record of children with special needs in different areas of Punjab.
Officials believe the exercise could also help identify children who are currently not enrolled in educational institutions and facilitate their admission to suitable special education facilities.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve access to specialised education and ensure that more children with special needs are connected with appropriate educational opportunities.
