Government Schools Across Punjab Prepare for Major Sports Programme
LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – The Punjab School Education Department has announced a province-wide sports programme for students enrolled in government schools, with competitions to be held at tehsil, district, divisional and provincial levels.
Students will take part in a range of sporting activities, including hockey, badminton, table tennis, cricket, volleyball, athletics, chess and football.
According to the department, committees have been formed at each administrative level to organise, coordinate and monitor the competitions.
At the tehsil level, the Deputy District Education Officer will head the committee, while the relevant head teacher will perform the duties of secretary. At the district level, the Chief Executive Officer of the concerned education authority will serve as convener.
The divisional committee will be headed by the Divisional Director, while the Director Public Instruction Punjab will lead the committee responsible for provincial-level competitions.
The department has directed all committees to prepare and issue their respective sports calendars by the end of September.
All government schools in Punjab have also been instructed to encourage maximum student participation in the competitions.
The School Education Department said the initiative is designed to promote healthy physical and mental development among students while providing them greater opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities.
