Punjab Health Budget 2025-26 Targets Medical Colleges and Hospital Upgrades
The Punjab government has set aside Rs5.35 billion in the Punjab health budget 2025-26 for the development of medical colleges and teaching hospitals across the province.
A major focus of this budget is the rehabilitation of student hostels at medical colleges. The total cost of this project is Rs2 billion, with Rs385 million allocated for the upcoming fiscal year.
Mayo Hospital in Lahore is also getting attention. The government has reserved Rs306 million to revamp its Outpatient Department (OPD). The full project is estimated to cost Rs3 billion and aims to improve patient services and facilities.
Services Hospital will receive Rs70 million for the installation of lifts in its Emergency and Gynecology blocks. This step will improve patient movement and emergency response within the hospital.
Jinnah Institute of Cardiology is set to get a digital upgrade. Rs105 million has been allocated to implement a Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), which will improve record-keeping and overall hospital management.
The most anticipated project in this budget is the Kalsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan. The hospital carries a total estimated cost of Rs15.25 billion. An initial allocation of Rs800 million has been proposed to begin construction work.
This budget reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and patient care across the province.
