The remarkable performance surpassed Gayle’s previous record of 175 runs off 66 deliveries, which the West Indies great scored for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in the 2013 Indian Premier League. Gayle had struck 13 fours and 17 sixes in that innings.

Pretorius missed out on becoming the first batter to score a double century in T20 cricket by just 12 runs. However, his spectacular innings was enough to take the record for the highest individual score in men’s T20 cricket.

Powered by Pretorius’s explosive batting, the Titans posted an imposing 267 for 3, which stands as the second-highest team total in the history of the CSA T20 Challenge.
