President, PM Pay Tribute to Kashmir Martyrs of 1931

President Zardari urged the international community to play its role in ensuring a peaceful resolution

Islamabad: (Special Reporter) – President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the 22 Kashmiris who were martyred on July 13, 1931, after being fired upon by Dogra forces in Srinagar.

In separate messages issued on Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Kashmir, the country’s top leadership honored the sacrifices of the martyrs and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

President Zardari urged the international community to play its role in ensuring a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said lasting peace and stability in South Asia cannot be achieved without a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue. He reiterated Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi described Kashmir as the “jugular vein” of Pakistan and paid tribute to the courage of the 22 martyrs who laid down their lives in 1931. He said their sacrifices symbolized the struggle against oppression and injustice.

Naqvi further stated that the suppression of fundamental rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) cannot silence the voice of freedom. He urged the international community and human rights organizations to take notice of the alleged human rights violations in the region.

The leaders reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and remembered the martyrs as symbols of courage and resilience.
