PML-N Candidate Leads in NA-168 Bahawalpur By-Election
The results remain provisional and unofficial until formally consolidated and notified by the Election Commission.
Bahawalpur: (Our Correspondent) – Vote counting is underway following the conclusion of polling for the by-election in National Assembly constituency NA-168 Bahawalpur-V.
The contest is primarily between PML-N candidate Malik Munir Iqbal Channar and independent candidate Wali Dad Cheema.
According to provisional and unofficial results from 289 of the constituency’s 292 polling stations, PML-N’s Malik Munir Iqbal Channar is leading with 78,918 votes, while independent candidate Wali Dad Cheema has secured 42,626 votes.
A total of 483,143 voters were registered in the constituency, where 292 polling stations were established. Polling began at 8am and continued until 5pm.
The NA-168 seat fell vacant following the death of PML-N lawmaker Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar in August. His son, Malik Munir Iqbal Channar, was nominated by the PML-N to contest the by-election, while Wali Dad Cheema, son of former federal minister Tariq Bashir Cheema, contested as an independent candidate.
