PML-N AJK 2026: Nawaz Calls Ticket Aspirants to Lahore
PML-N AJK 2026 Race Begins as Nawaz Calls Ticket Hopefuls to Lahore
PML-N – (Web Desk) – PML-N President and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned party ticket aspirants for the PML-N AJK 2026 elections to Lahore this Friday. Over 205 party leaders and workers have applied for tickets across 33 constituencies in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, along with 12 reserved seats for Pakistani-based Kashmiri refugees.
All applicants have been called to appear before the party’s parliamentary board at 11:30am at the Model Town office in Lahore.
Before meeting the candidates, the 24-member parliamentary board will hold its first formal session at 11am, chaired by Nawaz Sharif himself. The board was formed on April 16 and is responsible for reviewing and finalising candidates ahead of the July elections.
The board is a heavyweight lineup. It includes Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and senior federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Amir Muqam, and Rana Sanaullah. Senior party figures such as Hamza Shehbaz, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Marriyum Aurangzeb, and retired Captain Muhammad Safdar are also on the panel.
From AJK, the board features regional president Shah Ghulam Qadir, former AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, and several other seasoned regional leaders.
Groundwork for this process started earlier in 2026. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had formed a separate nine-member political committee to guide party affairs in the region. In February, that committee held consultations with candidates at divisional headquarters across AJK and also met refugee community aspirants in Rawalpindi. Most of that preliminary work is now complete.
With the formal scrutiny now underway, PML-N is moving quickly to lock in its strongest lineup for the July vote.
