PM Orders Faster Digitalization Across Federal Government Institutions
ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to give greater attention to delivering easy, efficient and modern digital services to citizens.
The prime minister issued the directives while chairing a meeting in Islamabad to review ongoing reforms at the NITB and assess progress on the construction of the Islamabad Technology Park.
Shehbaz Sharif instructed relevant institutions to work together to ensure government digital services are delivered in a timely, transparent and user-friendly manner. He said improving public access to government services remains a key priority of his administration.
The prime minister also ordered further improvements to government digital platforms so they can meet current technological requirements and provide more convenient services to citizens.
Highlighting the shift of federal ministries to the e-office system, Shehbaz described the reform as one of the government’s major initiatives in IT and digital transformation. He directed authorities to ensure that e-office facilities are also adopted across subordinate departments and federal government-owned enterprises.
He further called for the digital transformation of government institutions to be accelerated, with greater use of modern technologies. The prime minister also ordered authorities to complete the digitization of records relating to government-owned properties at the earliest.
Expressing concern over delays in the completion of the Islamabad Technology Park, Shehbaz directed officials to speed up construction and make the facility operational on a priority basis. He also instructed that the park’s operations be fully outsourced.
The meeting was informed that the NITB has already undergone a right-sizing process, while appointments to key positions are being made through a transparent procedure.
Officials further briefed the meeting that all federal ministries have been shifted to the e-office system, with efforts continuing to expand its use across other government departments and state-owned enterprises.
The meeting also received an update on the ongoing construction and development work at Islamabad Technology Park.
