PM Shehbaz forcefully raises Palestine, Kashmir issues at UN, Tarar

ISLAMABAD: (Mudassar Iqbal) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif forcefully highlighted the issues facing the Muslim world, particularly Palestine and Kashmir, during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikhtiar Wali, Tarar said the prime minister’s speech received widespread appreciation, including from Palestinian representatives.

He said Pakistan had continued its humanitarian support for Palestinians and had also facilitated medical education for Palestinian students in the country.

Tarar said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the people of Kashmir and highlighted Islamabad’s efforts to promote peace and mediation between the United States and Iran.

The federal minister also said a decline in oil prices would provide relief to economies around the world. He praised Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership during the recent conflict with India.

Pakistan’s address at the UN General Assembly also focused on Kashmir, Palestine, water rights and efforts for regional peace.

Commenting on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Tarar alleged that the chief minister had lost political standing within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and described his political conduct as weak.

Tarar has previously criticised the PTI-led KP government over what he described as inadequate action against terrorism and law-and-order challenges in the province.
