PM Shehbaz Calls for Sustainable Growth, Assures Economic Recovery
“We have inexhaustible natural resources and brilliant human minds,” said Shehbaz.
Karachi – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif marked his first visit to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) by inaugurating a ceremony and ringing the gong, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, stability, and economic growth for the country’s future. In his address, the PM outlined the government’s efforts to ensure macroeconomic stability, which he claimed has positioned Pakistan’s economy to bounce back.
The Prime Minister highlighted that while stability is an important milestone, the real goal is sustainable economic growth. “We have achieved macroeconomic stability, but now we need to transform that stability into growth,” he remarked, adding that the economy is now back on its feet. He stressed that moving towards growth requires collective teamwork and dedication.
During his speech, PM Shehbaz introduced the recently launched Uran Pakistan Program, a key initiative aimed at fostering economic development and social prosperity. “This program will guide us towards progress and prosperity, utilizing Pakistan’s natural resources, talent, and hard work,” he said, underlining its role in the country’s future success.
The PM also reflected on Karachi’s resurgence as a commercial, financial, and export hub. He noted the city’s critical role in Pakistan’s economic revival, stating, “Once, the lights of Karachi were dimmed, but now they shine brightly again.” He reiterated that Karachi’s economic activity is vital to the nation’s overall growth.
Addressing the country’s financial challenges, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to meeting its obligations to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). However, he expressed his intention to reduce reliance on the IMF in the future. “We will bid farewell to the IMF when the time comes,” he stated. Drawing comparisons with nations like Germany and Japan, which rebuilt their economies after World War II, the PM called for Pakistan to learn from history and restore its global standing.
“We have inexhaustible natural resources and brilliant human minds,” said Shehbaz, emphasizing that Pakistan must be strengthened to secure its future. He called for realistic planning, confronting both strengths and weaknesses with honesty. “The facts, whether good or bad, must be acknowledged if we are to move forward,” he remarked.
