Islamabad- (Web Desk) — A Pakistan-flagged oil tanker has safely passed through the strategically sensitive Strait of Hormuz carrying crude oil from the United Arab Emirates, according to shipping data.
The Aframax tanker Shalamar transported around 440,000 barrels of Abu Dhabi’s Das Blend crude, loaded earlier this week at a terminal operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The vessel is now en route to Karachi, where it is expected to offload its cargo on April 19.
The Shalamar was among two Pakistani tankers that entered the Strait on Sunday to pick up oil shipments. Pakistan’s petroleum minister confirmed the cargo originated from an ADNOC facility.
The development comes amid heightened tensions in the region. Maritime traffic through the Strait has slowed following a U.S.-led blockade. The United States Navy has expanded enforcement measures, warning that vessels suspected of heading toward Iranian territory could be stopped and inspected under international maritime rules.

According to United States Central Command, at least 14 vessels have already changed course after complying with directives issued during the first 72 hours of the blockade.
Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, which operates the Shalamar, has not yet issued an official response on the situation.
