Pakistani Crew Hostage in Somalia 2025 — Pirates Seize Oil Tanker with 11 Sailors on Board
Pakistani crew hostage Somalia 2025 — families await answers as Islamabad launches rescue push
Pakistan vs Somalia – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The Pakistani crew hostage Somalia 2025 crisis is now an urgent national issue. Pirates seized the oil tanker Honour 25 on April 21. Eleven Pakistani sailors are on board. The ship is still under pirate control.
Armed gunmen boarded the vessel near the Somali coast. They took full control of the ship quickly. No one was able to stop them. The crew has not been able to contact anyone since.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs confirmed the incident. They say steps are already in place to bring the crew home safely. The ministry is watching the situation closely every day.
Federal Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry asked for a full report. He told officials to speed up rescue efforts. The Foreign Office is now reaching out to the Somali government directly.
Families of the sailors are deeply worried. They say they have received no updates. They are urging the government to act fast and bring their loved ones home.
This is not the first time this has happened. Back in 2024, Somali pirates took a Bangladesh-flagged ship with 23 crew. That crew was freed after a large ransom was air-dropped to the pirates in sacks of US dollars.
Experts say piracy is making a comeback in the Indian Ocean. International naval forces have pulled back from the region. Pirates are now taking advantage of that gap.
