Pakistan UAE Partnership Strengthens Through Economic Humanitarian Cooperation
Pakistan UAE Relations Deepen Through Economic And Humanitarian Cooperation
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The long-standing partnership between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates continues to be viewed as a strong example of strategic cooperation and brotherly ties, reinforced by recent high-level interactions between UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Officials and observers note that while this relationship is deep-rooted, its contributions are sometimes underrepresented in parts of the media. In reality, the UAE has consistently provided significant support to Pakistan across economic, humanitarian, and development sectors.
Pakistan Finally Repays $2 Billion Loan to UAE
During periods of financial pressure, the UAE has played a stabilizing role by rolling over multi-billion-dollar deposits, helping Pakistan maintain foreign exchange reserves and meet international obligations, including those linked to the IMF programme.
Beyond financial assistance, the UAE has also supported major humanitarian and public health initiatives. Through programmes such as the Emirates Polio Campaign, millions of children in high-risk regions of Pakistan have received vaccinations, contributing to national efforts to eradicate polio.
The UAE has further assisted Pakistan during major natural disasters, including the 2010 and 2022 floods, by rapidly delivering relief supplies such as food, medical aid, and emergency shelter through air operations.
In the healthcare sector, UAE-backed projects have contributed to the development of hospitals and medical institutions, improving access to treatment in underserved areas. Similarly, education initiatives such as those supported by Dubai Cares have helped thousands of children gain access to schooling and vocational training.
Infrastructure and energy cooperation has also been part of the partnership, with investments in water supply projects, road networks, and efforts to improve energy efficiency and power availability in Pakistan.
More recently, collaboration with DP World has been aimed at modernizing freight and logistics systems, enhancing trade connectivity and efficiency.
Diplomatic and consular services provided by UAE missions in Pakistan continue to play an important role, particularly in assisting citizens during emergencies, further strengthening people-to-people connections between the two nations.
Experts say the Pakistan-UAE relationship remains a key example of sustained partnership built on trust, practical cooperation, and shared regional interests.
