ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Pakistan is actively working to persuade Iran to refrain from targeting Saudi Arabia amid escalating Middle East tensions, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said on Wednesday.
Sanaullah said Pakistan’s military leadership is in continuous contact with Iran to resolve misunderstandings and ensure Gulf countries are not affected.
The remarks came after an in-camera meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which included parliamentary and political party leaders, focusing on Pakistan-Afghanistan developments, the Middle East conflict, and Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
Sanaullah noted that participants recognized Iran’s right to retaliate against Israel but stressed that Tehran’s response should not target Gulf countries. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar updated the meeting on discussions with Gulf states to de-escalate tensions.

Dar reportedly conveyed that Iran had agreed not to attack Saudi Arabia if Riyadh guarantees that its territory will not be used against Tehran. Pakistan is facilitating dialogue between the two nations, building on its historical role in previous Iran-related negotiations.
Sanaullah described the regional conflict as an imposed war on Iran, warning that the US-Israel strikes could prolong the crisis. According to IRNA, over 1,000 military personnel and civilians have been killed in Iran since the US-Israel assault began on February 28.
