Rinku Singh Stars In Kolkata Super Over Victory

Kolkata Edge Lucknow In Thriller As Rinku Shines

NEW DELHI: (Web Desk) – Rinku Singh delivered a standout all-round performance, scoring an unbeaten 83 and taking five catches to guide Kolkata Knight Riders to a thrilling Super Over win against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League on Sunday.

Lucknow’s Mohsin Khan produced a stunning spell, finishing with 5-23—the best bowling figures of the season—to restrict Kolkata to 155-7 at Ekana Stadium. Kolkata were struggling at 93-7 before Rinku launched a remarkable counterattack, smashing four consecutive sixes in the final over to lift his team to a competitive total.

In reply, Lucknow had a slow start, losing Mitchell Marsh early. Aiden Markram and captain Rishabh Pant added runs but failed to accelerate. The match went down to the wire, with Lucknow needing 17 in the last over. Despite a wicket from Kartik Tyagi, Mohammed Shami struck a last-ball six to level the scores at 155-8.

The Super Over saw Sunil Narine dominate with the ball, conceding just one run while picking up two quick wickets. Rinku then sealed the victory with the winning shot, completing a memorable match-winning display.

Rinku also shone in the field, pulling off spectacular catches, including a relay effort in the Super Over involving Rovman Powell. Earlier, a rare dismissal saw Angkrish Raghuvanshi given out for obstructing the field after deflecting a throw from Shami.

The defeat leaves Lucknow at the bottom of the standings, while Kolkata registered only their second win of the season. In another match, Kagiso Rabada starred with 3-25 as Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets.
