Pakistan Media Council Appoints Aazhar Mahmood Awan as President of International Wing
Awan, who has been actively contributing to Pakistani and international journalism for years
ISLAMABAD (News Desk) – The Pakistan Media Council (PMC) has appointed Aazhar Mahmood Awan – a Europe-based columnist, research scholar, and Chief Advisor of Istehkaam Pakistan Overseas Forum – as the President of its International Wing.
The decision, announced at a formal ceremony in Islamabad, is part of PMC’s broader strategy to strengthen its global outreach and better represent overseas Pakistani communities in media and policy discourse.
Awan, who has been actively contributing to Pakistani and international journalism for years, brings extensive experience in media analysis, diaspora affairs, and cross-cultural communication. His role will focus on bridging the gap between Pakistan’s media landscape and its overseas population, while highlighting issues affecting Pakistanis living abroad.
The appointment has drawn widespread appreciation from Pakistani journalists, business figures, and community leaders based in the UK and across Europe. In their statements, they hailed the move as a positive step toward giving overseas Pakistanis a stronger voice in the national media narrative.
Speaking on the occasion, senior PMC officials expressed confidence that Awan’s leadership would bring fresh perspectives to the council’s international engagements and help project Pakistan’s soft power through responsible journalism.
Awan, in his initial response, thanked the council for reposing trust in him and reiterated his commitment to work for the welfare of overseas Pakistanis and the promotion of constructive media practices.
