Middle East Tensions Drive Pakistan’s LNG Costs To Historic Peak
ISLAMABAD: (Finance Desk) – Pakistan’s LNG prices have climbed to an unprecedented level, with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announcing a significant increase in the July sale price. According to the latest notification, LNG has been priced at $6.45 per MMBTU for the month.
The revised LNG sale price has reached $25.83 per MMBTU for consumers connected to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) system, while the price for the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) network stands at $25.80 per MMBTU.
The sharp rise comes as escalating tensions in the Middle East forced Pakistan to secure five costly spot LNG cargoes during July. The higher procurement costs have pushed the monthly LNG pricing significantly above June levels.
