Pakistan exports 400 products to UK, quality marketing improvements needed

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) A meeting held in Faisalabad highlighted Pakistan’s growing trade potential with the United Kingdom, where experts noted that the country is already exporting more than 400 agriculture-based products but still needs major improvements in quality control and marketing strategies.

The discussion took place between representatives of the UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Institute of Business Management Sciences at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, focusing on strengthening trade and improving graduate employability.

Hasan Afzal Rana said Pakistan has a strong presence in international markets, particularly in agriculture exports to the UK. However, he stressed that better branding, value addition, and modern marketing techniques are essential to enhance competitiveness.

Participants noted that improving quality assurance systems and adopting global standards could help Pakistan expand its footprint in international markets and increase export value.

The meeting also focused on creating structured pathways for Pakistani graduates to access employment opportunities in the UK. Experts emphasized aligning academic training with international industry requirements to improve skills and professional readiness.

Speakers called for stronger collaboration between universities and industry through internships, training programs, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to bridge the skills gap.

The session concluded with optimism that enhanced cooperation between academic institutions and trade organizations could strengthen Pakistan–UK economic ties and support long-term professional and trade development.
