WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – The White House has acknowledged Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran, with spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stating that Islamabad’s efforts toward a ceasefire are appreciated. She indicated that the next phase of negotiations is likely to take place in Islamabad.
Addressing a press briefing, the spokesperson described ongoing talks with Iran as productive and confirmed that Pakistan is playing a central mediating role. She also dismissed reports suggesting that Washington had requested an extension of the ceasefire, calling such claims inaccurate.

According to sources, preparations are underway in Islamabad for a possible second round of talks, with security and administrative arrangements being finalized. The expected US delegation may include Vice President JD Vance, along with officials such as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while Iran is likely to be represented by senior figures including Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
While Iranian officials have not confirmed a final date, indications suggest the talks could take place by the end of next week. The first round of discussions, held in Islamabad on April 11, lasted over 20 hours but concluded without a formal agreement, though both sides described the engagement as constructive.
