Birmingham Man Jailed 30 Years for Brutal Knife Attack

Birmingham: (Crime Reporter) – A 26-year-old man, Amir Khan, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempting to murder a woman he knew in a brutal knife attack in Birmingham.

The attack took place in the Hockley area in 2025, when Khan stabbed the woman in the back of the head, according to police. She survived the assault but suffered catastrophic injuries that caused permanent brain damage and left her dependent on round-the-clock care.

After the attack, Khan contacted emergency services and allegedly claimed that the woman had been injured in a fall. However, paramedics and police officers found that her injuries did not match an accidental fall.

Investigators subsequently established that the woman had been stabbed. Despite an extensive investigation, the weapon used in the attack was never found.

Khan was convicted of attempted murder in May 2026 and was handed a 30-year prison sentence on July 7, 2026.

West Midlands Police Detective Chief Inspector Laura Allen described the assault as horrific, saying the victim’s life had been permanently changed and that the incident had also had a profound impact on her family and friends.

Police stressed that violence against women and girls is treated with the highest level of seriousness and said they hoped the lengthy sentence would bring some measure of justice to the victim and her loved ones.
