Pakistan Economy $452 Billion Resilient: FinMin

Pakistan economy $452 billion milestone reached as GDP grows 3.7% despite global and regional challenges

Pakistan – (Web Desk) – Pakistan economy $452 billion mark has been crossed in FY2025-26, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced while presenting the Economic Survey. The economy reached $452.1 billion this fiscal year, showing stronger-than-expected results.

Aurangzeb said the country faced serious challenges at the start of the year. Monsoon rains hurt economic activity. US tariffs on global trade added more pressure. The Middle East crisis also created uncertainty for Pakistan’s external sector.

Despite all this, the government managed to deliver solid results. The economy grew at 3.7% during FY2025-26. The minister said growth could have crossed 4% if the Middle East situation had not emerged.

Per capita annual income rose from $1,751 to $1,901 during the fiscal year. This shows that average earnings improved for Pakistani citizens despite the tough global environment.

The cement sector posted 10% growth, while the fertiliser sector expanded by 17%. The petroleum sector also recorded 5% growth during the year.

Pakistan’s current account remained in surplus by $72 million during the July to March period. This is a positive sign for the country’s external economic health.
