Pakistan Brings US and Iran Together for Historic Peace Talks

Pakistan steps up as a trusted voice between two powerful enemies, choosing dialogue at a moment when the world needed it most.

Islamabad – (Web Desk) – History is being made in Pakistan’s capital. Today, Islamabad is hosting some of the most important peace talks the world has seen in years.

Six weeks after the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran, killing thousands and shutting down the world’s most critical oil passage, top US and Iranian officials are now sitting down in Islamabad for talks.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally invited both sides to the table. The world responded quickly. The UN Secretary-General welcomed the move. France, Turkey, the UK and others voiced their support.

US Vice President JD Vance met Sharif ahead of the negotiations. Iran’s delegation includes Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. These are the highest-level talks between the two countries since 1979.

Nobody is expecting a full deal overnight. Pakistan’s goal is realistic. Get both sides to find enough common ground to keep talking.

Pakistan was well placed for this role. It has good relations with the US, Iran, Saudi Arabia and China all at once. Few countries can say that.

Trump said he was “very optimistic” about a peace deal. Iran’s lead negotiator said his country has goodwill but not yet full trust.

The world is watching. And for now, Islamabad is where hope lives.
