Pakistan Armed Forces Far Ahead of India in Operational Preparedness: DG ISPR
DG ISPR Says KP Residents Welcome Counterterrorism Efforts Across Province
ISLAMABAD: (Special Reporter) – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that Pakistan’s armed forces are far ahead of India in terms of operational preparedness.
In another part of his interview with Reuters, aired on October 30, the DG ISPR said the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) were proxies of India. He asserted that Pakistan had the capability to counter any threat from India, adding that any response from Pakistan would carry an unbearable cost for its adversary.
Responding to a question about counterterrorism, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan had a clear strategy to tackle terrorism. He explained that one component of the strategy was to eliminate all facilitators and enablers of terrorism within the country.
The ISPR chief identified what he described as an incompetent and indifferent government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as one of the factors hampering counterterrorism efforts.
He said Pakistan was conducting around 200 intelligence-based operations against terrorists every day and would continue these efforts.
The DG ISPR further said that terrorists acting on the instructions of their handlers were pursuing an anti-development agenda.
He observed that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had suffered the most from terrorism, describing them as a brave and proud community and an important part of Pakistani society.
According to him, the people of the province primarily wanted security and stability, and nobody in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa opposed counterterrorism operations.
He added that residents had welcomed the removal of what he described as a key obstacle to counterterrorism efforts, expressing optimism that this would help improve the security situation.
