Pakistan and Russia Reach Pakistan Russia Illegal Immigration Agreement at SCO Bishkek Summit

Pakistan & Russia – (Web Desk) – Pakistan and Russia have signed a landmark Pakistan Russia illegal immigration agreement during a high-level meeting in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the development after signing the deal with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) interior ministers conference.

The two countries also formalised a separate agreement to jointly fight drug trafficking and stop the flow of narcotics across borders. Both deals mark a major step forward in building stronger law enforcement ties between the two nations.

Naqvi travelled to Bishkek to attend the special gathering of interior and public security ministers from SCO member states. Alongside his meeting with Russian officials, he also held one-on-one talks with the interior ministers of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. All discussions centred on shared security concerns, counterterrorism efforts and the growing threat of instability linked to Afghanistan.

During talks with Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda, both sides highlighted the dangers spilling over from Afghanistan, including active terrorist camps and widespread narcotics production. Naqvi warned that the presence of these camps posed serious risks to the entire region. Ministers at the conference noted that around 25 terrorist groups are currently operating inside Afghanistan.

Naqvi also sat down with Uzbek Interior Minister Aziz Tashpulatov. The two agreed to boost cooperation between their law enforcement agencies and expand joint training programmes to better prepare security forces on both sides.

In his meeting with Kyrgyz Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov, Naqvi congratulated Kyrgyzstan on being elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Both ministers also pledged to deepen cooperation in areas of common interest.

Naqvi wrapped up his bilateral meetings by sitting down with Kazakhstan’s Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov. The two sides agreed to work together to prevent illegal immigration and decided to set up a joint working group between their interior ministries to take the partnership further.
