Pakistan and India Agree to Immediate Ceasefire, Confirms Trump and Ishaq Dar

Trump congratulated both nations for using wisdom and restraint to reach this critical decision.

Pakistan and India have agreed to an immediate and complete ceasefire, according to a statement issued by former U.S. President Donald Trump. The announcement was made via social media platform X, where Trump credited U.S. mediation efforts for the breakthrough.

Trump stated that the United States held intensive overnight discussions with both countries, resulting in their mutual agreement to end hostilities. He congratulated both sides for demonstrating wisdom and restraint, and commended their commitment to peace in the region.

Following Trump’s announcement, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also took to X, reaffirming Pakistan’s consistent stance on peace. “Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Dar stated.

The simultaneous messages from Washington and Islamabad have raised hopes for a lasting de-escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, who have a history of tense relations and military confrontations.
