Olympic Gold Medallist Imane Khelif Under Scrutiny After Medical Report Revealed
Olympic gold medallist and Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is under renewed scrutiny following a report by French journalist Djaffar Ait Aoudia, which reveals that she has been diagnosed with 5-alpha reductase deficiency. This disorder affects sexual development and is usually found in individuals with a male genetic makeup.
The medical documentation, reportedly prepared in June 2023 through collaboration between Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital in Paris and Mohamed Lamine Debaghine Hospital in Algiers, includes MRI results indicating that Khelif does not have a uterus and has internal testicles, along with a condition described as a “micropenis,” which is similar to an enlarged clitoris.
Furthermore, the report notes that Khelif underwent chromosomal testing that confirmed she has an XY karyotype, as well as hormone tests showing testosterone levels consistent with those typically found in males.
