Nine dead, 47 injured in northwest Pakistan rain incidents since March 25
Eight children among the dead as collapsed roofs and walls claim lives across Bannu and North Waziristan
PESHAWAR – (Web Desk) – At least nine people have died in northwest Pakistan since March 25. Eight of them were children. Another 47 people got injured. Heavy rains are still falling across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The rains caused roofs and walls to collapse in people’s homes. Most of the deaths happened in Bannu and North Waziristan districts. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority confirmed the details.
Pakistan has always struggled with extreme weather. But things have gotten worse in recent years. The country now faces heavy floods, unpredictable rains and dangerous heatwaves one after another. Old buildings and weak infrastructure simply cannot handle it.
Back in 2022 the situation was devastating. Monster floods killed more than 1,700 people across the country. Over 33 million people were affected. It was one of the worst disasters Pakistan had ever seen.
Then in 2025 the floods came back. More than 900 people lost their lives. Punjab was hit the hardest. Millions of families were displaced. Farmland went underwater. Crops were destroyed and many people lost their only source of income.
Scientists say Pakistan is one of the most climate vulnerable countries in the world. But the disasters keep coming and the preparations remain thin.
“So far, 9 people have been killed and 47 injured due to the collapse of roofs and walls of houses caused by the rains,” the PDMA said.
The authority said eight of those killed were children and one was a woman, while the injured included 26 men and 21 children. At least six houses had sustained partial damage in the affected districts.
PDMA said it was working in coordination with Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant institutions to carry out relief operations.
The authority has directed local administrations to expedite relief efforts and ensure immediate assistance to affected families, particularly in Bannu, which has been identified as the worst-hit district.

Intermittent rains are expected to continue until Tuesday, the PDMA said, urging the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist areas and follow official adviseries.
