In Islamabad, the National Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather alert, forecasting thunderstorms and strong winds across various parts of the country from today until March 25.
According to the advisory, rainfall accompanied by gusty winds is expected in regions including Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir over the coming days. Authorities have urged local administrations to remain vigilant during this period.
The NDMA further stated that areas of Balochistan may experience thunderstorms, heavy winds, and rain until March 23. Meanwhile, cities in Sindh such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu could also receive rainfall, prompting authorities to stay on high alert.
Separately, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has confirmed that a westerly weather system is entering the country from tonight, which will influence weather patterns in the coming days.
Under this system, most districts of Punjab are likely to receive rain between March 18 and 20, with light drizzle expected in some areas. While overall conditions may remain dry in parts of the province, cities like Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, and Mianwali could see thunderstorms and gusty winds during evening and night hours.
NDMA issues alert for rain, snow in northern regions
The department added that upper regions are expected to remain partly cloudy during the Eid days. In Lahore, continuous rainfall over two days is likely to make the weather pleasant, with cooler temperatures expected to persist during Eid celebrations.
Regarding Karachi, the weather is forecast to remain hot and dry over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C and 36°C. The minimum temperature was recorded at 23.5°C, with humidity levels at 79 percent and light southwest winds blowing at 4 km/h.
