Muharram 1448 Moon Sighting Pakistan: No Crescent on June 15

Muharram 1448 Moon Sighting Pakistan Unlikely as PMD Issues Official Advisory

Muharram – (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Meteorological Department has officially confirmed that Muharram 1448 moon sighting Pakistan will not be possible on June 15. The moon is expected to be born at 7:54am, which is too late for the crescent to appear before sunset on Zil Hajj 29.

Despite clear skies expected across most parts of the country, the short gap between the moon’s birth and sunset makes it impossible to spot the crescent with the naked eye. This means the new Islamic month will most likely begin a day later.

The Met Office also shared moonset timings across Pakistan. In Punjab, the moon will set at 7:59pm. Sindh will see it at 8:55pm, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at 8:23pm, and Balochistan at 8:34pm. In Gilgit-Baltistan, moonset is at 8:00pm, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir will have it until 8:07pm.

The final decision on the start of Muharram will be announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after collecting reports from across the country.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has requested the deployment of Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel across 39 districts of Punjab. A total of 137 companies have been requested to help maintain law and order and ensure public safety during the holy month of Muharram.
