Masses’ mandate stolen in polls: JUI-F

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) provincial chief Maulana Attaur Rehman said on Saturday that the masses’ mandate was stolen in the recently held elections.

Islamabad: Masses’ mandate stolen in polls: JUI-F. Addressing the press conference in Peshawar, Rehman said: “The recently held elections were rigged.”

He bemoaned: “The KP was handed over to those people who were directly involved in the events that transpired on May 9.”

“Everybody is familiar with what type of character the person holds that was nominated for the KP CM slot,” Rehman said.

JUI-F, PTI voice concerns about elections

Earlier, the JUI-F and PTI had voiced concerns about the recently held elections.

Speaking to media in Islamabad, flanked by the PTI delegation, JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah said: “The country will not witness economic and political stability from these elections. Both the JUI-F and PTI had agreed that it was a rigged election.”

“Both parties agree that this election cannot be called transparent,” he added. Hamdullah made it clear that his party had denounced the poll results.

General Faiz’s name was taken by mistake

Fazl backtracks on military leaders’ involvement in Imran Khan’s ouster. In an interview , he stated that General Faiz’s name was taken by mistake, and he was not present during the meeting where the no-confidence motion was discussed. He also held General Bajwa and Faiz Hameed responsible for rigging the 2018 elections.

Mr Rehman disclosed that there was a message conveyed, suggesting withdrawal of the no-confidence motion if resignations were submitted. He emphasized that while General Bajwa and Faiz Hameed may have hinted at such actions, he was vocal about his stance.

The JUI-F chief emphasized the need to end the establishment’s role in politics and stated that it was not appropriate to discuss matters that happened in the past.

On Thursday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed that the “former army chief Gen (rtd) Qamar Javed Bajwa toppled the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) government.”

Rehman said: “Someone should stand up to the establishment and say it is doing wrong”.

“The protest will continue until things are settled, as the establishment has nothing to do with politics. As a result of this protest, there will be a revolution,” Rehman maintained.

Rehman said, “The state institutions are respectable, but why come into politics?”

“If the establishment thinks that the elections were transparent, then the narrative in line with the May 9 mayhem is buried,” Rehman added.

Recalling the no-confidence motion against the PTI founder, Rehman said: “The PPP was moving the no-confidence motion against the PTI. Gen Bajwa and Faiz Hameed were in touch with us at the time of no-confidence motion.”

“Gen Bajwa, Faiz Hameed asked all parties to do this [bringing vote of no-confidence motion],” he asserted.

Speaking about talks with the PTI, Rehman said: “There is a difference of mind with the PTI that can be resolved.”

“PML-N has announced to take the government with 66 seats to save the country. The present parliament has no future, as the decisions and policies in the parliament will come from somewhere else,” Rehman said.
