Punjab to Introduce Minority Cards, Distribute Sweets on Eid Milad-ul-Nabi
Lahore-(Tahir Chuhdary)-Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a review meeting of the Agriculture Department to discuss progress on initiatives for the uplift of the agriculture sector in the province. She announced the launch of several projects, including Kissan Cards, Agricultural Mall Pilot Project, Green Tractor Scheme, Agriculture Graduates Internship, and Tube Well Solarization Projects.
The Kissan Card scheme aims to benefit 0.5 million farmers with loans ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh per acre. The Agricultural Mall Pilot Project will provide seeds, fertilizers, and other facilities to farmers in Okara, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, and Sargodha. The Green Tractor Scheme will provide 10,000 tractors with a subsidy of Rs 10 lakh each. The tube well solarization project will soon be launched, with the government paying 50% of the costs.
CM Maryam Nawaz also approved the Fresh Agriculture Graduates Internship Program, which will train 1,000 agriculture graduates to advise farmers on best practices. She emphasized the importance of teamwork and public service, directing authorities to invite parliamentary secretaries to departmental meetings and seeking five-year vision reports from them.
In her keynote speech, CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted the government’s achievements, including the reduction of inflation, decrease in prices of essential items, and the launch of the ‘Apni Chhat…Apna Ghar Programme’ for housing. She also announced the distribution of sweets on Eid Milad-ul-Nabi and the upcoming launch of Minority Cards.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the need for collective efforts to serve the people, saying, “No one person can run this government, everyone has to work together.” She added, “We should unite and make joint efforts, one day is precious, five years are too short to serve the people.”
The meeting was attended by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information & Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, Chief Secretary, Secretary Agriculture, and other relevant officers.
