LHC Approves Return Of Maryam Nawaz Surety Bond
Lahore High Court Orders Return Of Rs70 Million Maryam Bond
LAHORE: (Web Desk) – The Lahore High Court on Monday approved an application filed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the return of a Rs70 million surety bond in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Aalia Neelam and comprising Justice Jawad Zafar and Justice Ahbar Gul Khan, issued the ruling allowing the chief minister to reclaim the deposited surety amount.
The decision was made after the National Accountability Bureau submitted an affidavit confirming the withdrawal of its appeal against the earlier high court order in the Federal Constitutional Court.
During the hearing, representatives from the federal government, NAB, and the Punjab government appeared before the bench, including the deputy attorney general and NAB’s special prosecutor.

Maryam Nawaz had originally approached the court in 2006 seeking the return of her surety bond, which was submitted as part of her post-arrest bail in the case.
Earlier proceedings revealed that an accountability court had already approved NAB’s request to close the investigation into Chaudhry Sugar Mills, paving the way for the release of the surety bond.
The accountability court had also ruled that the surety amount could be withdrawn following the conclusion of proceedings linked to the case.
The latest LHC decision brings closure to the long-standing legal matter regarding the recovery of the Rs70 million bond.
