Lebanon’s PM urges Pakistan to confirm its Mideast ceasefire role

Lebanon Pleads for Ceasefire Protection as Israel Continues Strikes on Hezbollah

Pakistan & Lebanon – (Web Desk) – Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, asking him to help confirm that Lebanon is included in the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel. This came just one day after Israeli strikes killed over 200 people in Lebanon.

Pakistan had played a role in brokering the truce, so Lebanon is hoping Islamabad can push for its inclusion. However, both Israel and the US have made it clear that the ceasefire does not cover Lebanon — Israel says it will keep attacking Hezbollah, the Iran-backed group that pulled Lebanon into this regional war back in March.

On the other side, Iran is firmly saying Lebanon must be part of the deal, with its parliament speaker warning of “strong responses” if it isn’t. The international community is also increasingly calling for Lebanon to be protected under the truce.
