KP Governor Rule Talks Emerge Ahead of PTI’s Islamabad March

Faisal Karim Kundi – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Talk of KP governor rule PTI activists are watching closely picked up pace on Friday, after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said consultations had already taken place on the matter. Speaking to reporters in Peshawar, he said the Constitution allows for such a step and did not rule it out.

His remarks come just days after Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the federal government had no plans for governor’s rule in the province, insisting KP instead needed better governance and “people’s rule.”

The timing is significant. PTI is preparing for a major protest and long march toward Islamabad on September 27, demanding the release of party founder Imran Khan and what it calls the restoration of constitutional order. Major roads leading into the capital have already been shut or restricted, and Rangers have been deployed across Islamabad and parts of Punjab.

Kundi also took aim at the provincial government, accusing it of trying to turn police into what he called a “tiger force” under political control. He pointed out that KP police already earn the lowest salaries among provincial forces, saying it made no sense to deny them benefits while still expecting loyalty.

He ended with a firm warning, vowing to resist any such move and calling it something the public would stand against together.
