KP Athletes Receive Cash Awards After National Games
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Athletes Honored with Cash Awards at Ceremony
Peshawar: Medal-winning athletes from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who delivered outstanding performances at the National Games 2026 were honored with cash awards at a ceremony held at the Peshawar Sports Complex.
Advisor to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Tarand distributed over Rs 26 million among the athletes. The event was attended by key sports officials, including Haroon Zafar, Secretary Sports Asif Khan, and other representatives of provincial sports bodies.
During the ceremony, the Under-21 Games trophy was presented to Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan after Peshawar Region secured first position. Athletes received Rs 600,000 for gold medals, Rs 400,000 for silver, and Rs 300,000 for bronze, while coaches were awarded Rs 100,000 each.
Speaking at the event, Taj Muhammad Tarand praised the athletes, calling them the pride of the province. He noted that the government had doubled the originally announced prize amounts to better recognize their achievements. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to promote sports, including infrastructure projects under the Annual Development Programme and plans to expand facilities across all districts.

He added that the initiative aligns with the vision of Imran Khan to promote sports and nurture young talent. A National Junior Championship is planned after Eid, with more large-scale events expected next year.
The advisor also announced a partnership with JazzCash to ensure transparent and efficient disbursement of prize money to athletes.
Top performers included gold medalists such as Hijab Ajmal, Syed Faisal Shah, Shahid Khan, Murad Khan, and table tennis players Fahad Khawaja and Usman Khalil.
Silver and bronze medalists from various disciplines, including kabaddi, taekwondo, badminton, boxing, golf, and tennis, were also recognized, along with members of the Pak-Afghan T20 Wheelchair Cricket Series-winning team.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment from the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to continue supporting athletes and strengthening sports development across the province.
