Kashmir Youth Sports Festival Concludes in Bhimber with a Grand Final

Bhimber's Landmark Festival Highlights Role in Defense and Sports

Bhimber: The five-day Kashmir Youth Sports Festival, held in Bhimber, concluded on a high note, with great appreciation from civil society for the successful organization of the event. The festival, which brought together participants from across Azad Kashmir, saw a thrilling cricket final and a display of unity and enthusiasm from the youth.

The closing ceremony was graced by Major General Muhammad Intikhab Alam, General Officer Commanding Jhelum, as the chief guest. During the event, the winning Mirpur cricket team was awarded a trophy, medals, and a cash prize of Rs. 200,000. The runner-up team was also honored with medals and Rs. 100,000 in cash.

The ceremony saw the presence of several prominent figures, including Commissioner Mirpur Division Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain, Commander 4 AK Brigade Brigadier Saeed Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bhimber Brigadier (retd) Yunus Javed, DIG Dr. Liaquat Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Mirza Arshad Mahmood Jarral, and SP Mohammad Amin. They all lauded the players and organizers for their dedication and effort in bringing together teams from all over Azad Kashmir on one platform.

The cricket tournament saw teams from 10 districts compete, with the final match between Mirpur and Muzaffarabad being a thrilling contest. Mirpur emerged victorious by 41 runs, and the energy and passion of the players and participants were truly remarkable. The crowd cheered enthusiastically, chanting slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad,” as they recalled the historic moment five years ago when the Pakistani armed forces shot down an Indian aircraft and captured the enemy pilot, Abhinandan, in the same region.

Bhimber’s contribution to both defense and sports was highlighted, with officials emphasizing the importance of sports in fostering unity and national pride. The festival was hailed as a landmark event that will go down in history, further enhancing Bhimber’s status as a key player in the sporting and defense sectors.

Participants and attendees expressed their gratitude to the Azad Kashmir government and military officials for their support in reviving the Bhimber stadium and making the event a success.
