Former Pakistan Captain Salman Akbar Joins Japan Hockey Team

TOKYO: (Sports Desk) – Former Pakistan hockey captain and renowned goalkeeper Salman Akbar has joined the Japan hockey team ahead of the FIH Hockey World Cup.

Akbar has been brought on board by Japan to work specifically with the team’s goalkeepers and will conduct a week-long training programme focused on improving their goalkeeping skills and performance.

The move highlights the continued recognition of Pakistani hockey expertise internationally, with Akbar bringing his extensive experience as a former international goalkeeper and captain to Japan’s preparations for the prestigious tournament.

The Japanese team is currently in the Netherlands as it prepares for the FIH Hockey World Cup.

Akbar has previously represented Pakistan at major international tournaments and is regarded as one of the country’s prominent goalkeepers of his generation.
