Karachi Airport Faces Flight Cancellations After Light Rain
Minor rainfall near Karachi airport has resulted in widespread flight cancellations, as the CAA restricts smaller aircraft from taking off due to safety concerns.
The rainy season has worsened flying conditions for smaller planes due to reduced visibility, while bad weather, low passenger load, and operational issues have affected airport activities, leading to the cancellation of multiple domestic and international flights.
Sources at Karachi airport confirmed that a total of 16 outbound flights, both domestic and international, have been cancelled.
Among the airlines affected, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has cancelled six flights. These include:
– PK 503 to Gwadar
– PK 731 to Jeddah
– PK 536 to Sukkur
– PK 306 to Lahore
– PK 340 to Faisalabad, scheduled to depart at 10:30 am
– PK 310 to Quetta
Other airlines have also been impacted by the weather. AirSial cancelled three flights, including PF 121 to Islamabad, PF 143, and PF 145 to Lahore. Similarly, Serene Air cancelled ER 504 to Islamabad, along with ER 522 and ER 524 to Lahore.
Additionally, Al Jazeera Air’s flight 5096 to Baku, Iran Air’s flight 813 to Tehran, and Qatar Airways’ flight QR 611 to Doha have also been cancelled.
Fly Jinnah cancelled two flights: 852 to Quetta and 672 to Islamabad.
Passengers have been advised to monitor flight updates and exercise patience as the CAA takes necessary precautions to ensure safety during the ongoing weather disruptions.
