Joe Root Retains Top Spot in ICC Test Rankings as Pakistani Players Miss Top 10

Despite some strong performances, no Pakistani batter made it into the top 10.

LONDON: England’s veteran batter Joe Root has maintained his dominance in Test cricket by retaining the number one spot in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday. His teammate Harry Brook followed closely behind, securing the second position. Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made a notable leap to claim the sixth spot, reflecting his recent performances. Australia’s Travis Head rounded out the top 10, cementing his presence in the red-ball format.

Despite some strong performances, no Pakistani batter made it into the top 10. However, vice-captain Saud Shakeel narrowly missed out, ranking 11th, while Mohammad Rizwan was placed 19th in the latest standings.

In the bowling department, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah continued to dominate, holding on to the number one ranking. Pakistan spinner Noman Ali impressed as well, securing the fifth position and showcasing Pakistan’s strength in spin bowling on the international stage.
