Iran Kuwait Tensions Rise After Gulf Boat Incident

Iran Demands Release Of Citizens Detained By Kuwait Authorities

TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned on Wednesday that Tehran reserves the right to respond after accusing Kuwait of intercepting an Iranian boat and detaining four Iranian nationals in Gulf waters. He demanded the immediate release of the detainees, claiming the incident occurred near an island allegedly connected to recent US military operations against Iran.

In a statement shared on X, Araghchi described Kuwait’s actions as illegal and accused the country of attempting to increase tensions in the region. He insisted Iran would not remain silent over the detention of its citizens.

Earlier, Kuwait’s Interior Ministry announced that four men arrested while allegedly trying to enter the country by sea had confessed to being members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. According to Kuwaiti authorities, the group included two navy colonels, a captain, and a lieutenant commander assigned to infiltrate Bubiyan Island.

Iran strongly rejected the accusations, with the foreign ministry calling the claims completely unfounded. Tehran stated the officers had unintentionally crossed into Kuwaiti waters after experiencing navigation system failures during their journey.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with Gulf countries increasing security measures and closely monitoring suspected Iranian-linked activities since the outbreak of regional conflict.
