Indian Woman Climbs 100-Foot Tower to Win Marriage Approval

A 19-year-old from Bahraich refused to come down for four hours until her family accepted her wedding.

Indian – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk0 – An Indian woman climbs 100-foot mobile phone tower in Uttar Pradesh to push her family to accept her marriage. The dramatic event took place in Bahraich district.

The woman is 19-year-old Sahiba Begum, also known as Mehak. Hindustan Times reported that she climbed the tower after a fight with her mother.

The fight was about her love for Nooruddin, 21. Both families were against the relationship.

Nooruddin was far away at the time. He was working in Mumbai, about 1,000 kilometres from the village.

Mehak stayed on the tower for around four hours. Relatives, villagers and police begged her to come down.

She warned that she would jump if her wish was not met. This made the situation very tense for everyone watching.

Police officers, including women officers, reached the spot. They spoke to her calmly and tried to win her trust.

At the same time, people tried to reach Nooruddin by phone. They hoped to settle the matter between the two families.

In the end, a local Muslim cleric found a way forward. He performed the nikah over a video call, with Nooruddin joining from Mumbai.

After the ceremony, Mehak agreed to climb down. Women police officers helped her reach the ground safely.

Police then took her and her family to the station for counselling. Later, she went home with her mother.

A large crowd of villagers had gathered to watch. The event showed how hard it can be when love meets family opposition.
